Can't get a song off your mind? Here's why

Are you singing a song repeatedly even when you are giving your exam or doing some important work ?If yes then please read the following article.

We all love listening to our favourite songs but when some song starts playing in our head repeatedly it can be annoying. So let's know why this happens

Before that we should know about what earworms are, don't worry earworms aren't real worms found in ears but it is a term used to refer to something that sticks in your mind subconsciously .

Most people report earworm songs as benign or pleasant. But others find them annoying or even maddening. Many researchers are working to find out why this happens.

While experts are starting to understand the common characteristics of earworm songs, they’re less clear on why these songs stick in our heads in the first place.Research has also shown that people with neurotic or obsessive-compulsive traits tend to experience earworm songs more frequently, and the songs tend to stick around longer.

There are some well-established ways to rid yourself of these perturbing bits of musical fluff.

Try finding a mentally demanding task and putting your mind on it usually shifts attention away from internal music.

Researchers also suggest that chewing gum can also help. “When a song is stuck in our heads, it’s almost like we’re singing along with it and if you make your mouth do something else like chewing gum, eating a meal or talking with a friend then that can kick out the earworm.”

So next time when a song starts playing in your head then don't worry its a common phenomenon. :D
